Default Japanese Lanterns in the Late Afternoon

This was shot in Nara in Japan not too far away from the more popular Kyoto.

Nara is ancient. Unbelievably so. And the architecture and the mood and the overall feeling of peace is quite extraordinary, even with a decent amount of tourists about. It just seems much more relaxed than Kyoto can ever be.

These stone lanterns are everywhere in the temple areas and many are beautifuly covered in moss.

I've been to Kyoto and Kobe last year. I loved Japan, the culture, the aesthetics and the architecture, old and new.
I had no time to go to Nara. I was told that it is of graet beauty and very interesting. Now I see...Thanks for the beautiful picture.

Hi Tim! My wife and I had the chance to visit Nara a couple of years ago and your description is perfect. Much more relaxed than Kyoto. We loved it there. A trip to Kyoto with a visit to Nara is to miss a Great cultural opportunity. I think I've been right where you took that picture. Have you had a chance to visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki yet!
By the way your capture is wonderful Well composed and
Presented.
Thanks for sharing this
Michael.

Thanks guys.

And yes, Nara is a beautiful place. Oh, and can't forget that they have HUNDREDS of wild deer just roaming around the entire park. Totally wild. Totally tame. It's unnerving at first but then they just sort of blend in with the landscape.

If anyone takes a trip out to Kyoto, they should also spend a day in Nara too! It's worth it!
