Default A view near the Tennessee Aquarium

Chattanooga has an excellent aquarium consisting of two buildings, one of which is the older original aquarium that was and still is devoted to the study and exhibition of freshwater river, lake and stream ecosystems and the second newer Saltwater exhibit.

This is of the freshwater building taken from a parking garage several blocks away...note the glass areas are also exhibit areas, containing live plants and trees and birds, butterflies, parrots and a stingray petting area. You take a really long and very cool escalator up to the top and work your way back down to the bottom. The center of the buildings are essentially hollow and the exhibits are all along the walls inside and extended rooms

This is a view of both aquariums from the other side of the Tennessee River. Note Lookout Mountain in the background, my childhood home. It is only 2000 feet high but was highly contested land during the Civil War. Google "Battle above the clouds" if interested.

A night shot from the Market Street Bridge looking back at the aquarium. You can barely make out the outline of Lookout Mtn to the right of the lighted "v" of the aquarium roof line...not the hill in the foreground...much further back

I want to take a road trip down that way again...the lines on the first one are so sharp and modern..The last one is lovely..There seems to be a lot to see going down through Kentucky and Tennesee..We usually go that way on the way to florida but never get to stop.
