Default OH NO! There are no more butterflies----

Well, at least not in the series of photos that I took at the Cockrell Butterfly Center on Saturday. But there were other creatures there, some very unusual looking and some downright scary. These are some of those and they were all taken thru glass displays (the only way I would get close to some of them).

Can you see it? It's a camouflaged moth, very unusual looking and it actually shows up better in the photo than it did in the display. It took me a while to spot it on the tree limb---

Camouflage Moth

This was a camouflaged beetle. A really creepy looking creature---

This funny looking one is a Green Leaf Katydid, one of the few names that stuck in my mind. It only takes one look at it to explain the name---

Giant leaf katydid

And it took all I had to get close enough to the display case to take this shot. Thank goodness for really good lenses and glass cases. As you can probably guess, tarantulas are not some of my favorite things---

I hope you enjoy these and comments are always welcome.

These captures are amazing Shirley. All of them are so sharp and clear. I just love the camaflage in the first one. I only just spotted him and wow scary spider in the last one.
Great work Shirley.

Dave.

Very interesting series. I've greatly enjoyed your trip to the butterfly center. the next time I visit my brother in Houston, this is going to be on the list. Amazing camouflage on the moth, the beetle looks really wicked, Love the cute katydid. I got used to Tarantulas while I was stationed in El Paso when I was in the army, so they're really no big deal, but that one is really pretty. thanks for sharing.
