Default Harvest Moon

Hey Everyone,

I haven't posted anything as of yet but wanted to share this shot as I like how it came out. The moon had an eerie orange glow to it, which I am told is a "harvest moon". I wanted to get the clouds and tree line exposed, and my past shots have told me that I need to blow out the moon in order to do that. Despite the blown highlights, I still like how it came out...haven't seen such shows in the sky anywhere I've been since moving to Maine.

Any comments always welcome.

8 sec exposure @ f/4. 300mm w/ ISO of 100.

I really like this photo i love the silhouette of the trees and leaves against the orange haze of the moon, makes me think of Halloween ha ha but i think that's just because it's hot here and i'm ready for Autumn. Kimi

Thanks Kimi, I feel the same way. I'm anxiously anticipating the fall here, it's my favourite season, Halloween especially.

Wow thanks for the praise, I appreciate it. The sky was right out of a movie, I wish the camera could have taken the photo so that the moon was exposed properly to get the overall effect, but I still like how it came out. It wasn't a full moon but a 3/4 so it was really dramatic in person with all the wispy clouds going by.

Haha, I think I got the moon photos nailed, so I shall have to move onto another subject if I want to beat it!

And I like your signature. Not so much because it's funny but because it's true. I remember a couple years ago I was driving home from class during the summer and saw debris everywhere, then saw a little tornado. While everyone else on the road was freaking out speeding past, I pulled over and started taking pictures with my cell phone (Sadly I did not have my camera with me). Afterwards I was like "wait what did I just do?". Haha it was like second instinct to take a photo.
