I was going to work one morning, and realized I was too early to begin work in East Vancouver (I was building a sun deck for my sister's friend). I had my camera so I decided to go visit my elementary school. I went to Queen Alexandra from 1965 to to 1973. I was amazed at how little had changed in terms of the building itself. As I was taking photos a ton of memories flooded my head. I have some very excellent memories of those years, particularly of the sports teams and recess/ lunch shenanigans that went on. I decided to convert the photos to B&W to preserve the time that had passed for me. The last photo was of the chestnut trees that lined 10th avenue, which ran beside the school. I hope you enjoy them.

That last photo really has a classic feel to it. Very nice.

Sometimes it's nice to revisit the past. Nice shots.

Thanks Nicole. I also liked the last shot the most for the same reason you did. As kids we used to throw chestnuts that fell to the ground at each other, and then at one point we started tying chestnuts together (with their prickly skin on) and hurl them at power lines in an attempt to get them caught up on the lines. Way too much fun in those days!
Thanks Leona. It was funny that morning because as I was taking photos a guy carrying a Starbucks coffee across the gravel field started to come toward me. I thought I was in trouble r something, but the guy turned out to be from Newfoundland (Eastern Canada), and seemed a little down on his luck. We had a great conversation about various things, and then he went on his way. I was thinking of asking him if I could take his photo, because he was a real character! Yes, it is nice to revisit old haunts.

Thanks Idrider. You have to love old buidings you had great memories of and in! Queen Alezandra was a fantastic school when I attended it. I heard it has gone a little downhill, but I think that has more3 to do with the current demographics of the area. Thanks again!
Thanks Mike. I actually did not notice the crooked steps of the entrance shot at first, but did eventually notice them, and I have to agree that this aspect lends that aged feeling to the photo. As I mentioned earlier, the tree-lined street brought back so many memories, and maybe in some ways i caught a little of that essence. Thanks my friend!
