Default Day at the Zoo

Well, this is my first post so hopefully it won't be a bomb. I'm just dipping my toes into photography with a D60 with 18-55mm and 55-200mm both with VR. As far back as I can remember my Dad had a camera in his hand and after our trip to Brookfield Zoo this weekend I can see why.

I've never enjoyed myself more at the zoo and I hope that is reflected somewhat in the 240 pictures I took that day, not even half of which have been uploaded yet. Some were duds but some make me realize what a good choice I made upgrading from a point and shoot.

These are unedited jpgs directly off my SD card. I still have a TON to learn, but I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed my day of taking them....

Welcome to DPS!!

These are great shots, and you are having some fun with that new camera!. I love the perspective you've chosen to show off that echinacea

That bird one is my fav...love the tilt of the head and the fact its centre frame ( breaking the so called rule of thirds) works really well.

Thank you for all the kind words, it just makes me want to get out and shoot more.

I did have some worries about the bird picture "breaking the rules" but for some reason when I tried to crop it down last night I felt it lost something.

The second shot of flowers is the one I liked the most.

If the was a little more sunshine on the butterfly, this would have been magnificient!!!

Nice Snaps
