What kind of skull is it? And where did you get it? Can't say this would be a favorite subject of mine, however this site is about photography. I think you did a good job shooting it.

Welcome to DPS

Thanks. it's a european badger skull. one of mine that i've had for over a decade.
you're right- i thought this was about photography, not whether someone thought the subject belonged in a museum, or was appropriate..
perhaps there should be a list of what photographs we shouldn't show...if that happens, please delete my account though

Jo, don't be offended please. This site is about photography and improving ones skills. There are a lot of photos on here that make my skin crawl, and I'm sure that's the same for others, but you must be able to look past the subject to the quality of the shooting.

I'm wondering, did you put this skull on a mirror or a shiny surface to get the reflection?
It works well that way.

It's not a sunset or a flower, but it is excellent photography. thanks for sharing.

Well firstly welcome to DPS and i hope you will enjoy your time with us. Dont take offense at things ..were all here to learn and to improve. Not everyone will like our photos or should i say the subject. Thats a part of photography...we are here to share photos and to encourage each other and to hopefully learn so we can improve. Your photo might not be to everyones taste but the composition is good and the reflection is really good.

the reflection was created using a piece of plexiglass, sat on top of a black board. i put another blackboard behind the skull. i also tried some creative lighting on a couple of them.

i'm not easily offended. trust me, that hasn't done it, but i think it'd be a good idea all round to keep c&c based on the photograph and technique, rather than the actual subject..or, i guess we could just all take pictures of the same three topics that everyone deems appropriate..how boring would that be?
take care.
