Default Great Egret

No trouble finding a spot to set my white point here. The thing was so white it almost glowed.

Great Egret

It seems to be over exposed. The detail in the feathes is washed out. Try bracketing to find the righ exposure to keep the details in the white and light areas.

Thanks for sharing. I like the way it's framed between the two posts.

@leonashlee: Thanks. I've been trying to get close enough to one of these for a few months.

@irispatch: You're right. I was so pleased to get these shots I didn't even notice that its back and the back of it's head were blown out. Well, I'll just have to try again. As for exposure bracketing, I discovered too late that my Nikon D60 doesn't do automatic exposure bracketing. Of course I can do it automatically.

@fstopMike: It was standing at the inlet pipe of a salt evaporation pond, evidently waiting for dinner to float by.

Great capture. Its so white you almost need sunglasses on for the glare. The natural framing sets it off really well. Thanks for sharing.

They are so fascinating a bird to watch and capturing a good shot of them is always a struggle with all the white, I really like how this is lit and the intensity of his eye.
