Default 4000 new members . . .

. . . since I last visited regularly (July 4). I used to enjoy welcoming each one of you, but that was a fulltime job, so I'll welcome you all as a group now, and try to see some of each of your work.

If you see Macro work and wish you had the equipment, here's some examples of what a Fuji S3100 with a magnifying glass attached can do:

You see a very small BB-sized wildflower - do you see the insect?

See it now? Top center?

This guy could get lost between the ridges in your fingerprint.

He may have spotted me . . .

Have fun today, whatever looks into your lens.

jakethepig, Thanks

Monday is sort of a getting-back-to-work-moderating day, so I'm playing today. The huge variety in insects means I might never have to take the same species twice, but they're all fascinating to me, so if it's in Fulton, I'll photograph it. Thanks for watching! I'll try to keep it interesting.

Ah Jiminy, it does my heart good to see you posting again. I have sure missed you. These are outstanding shots of something I probably couldn't see with my naked eye. Amazing as always.

dizworld, Thanks

You're right about the reasons for regular visits to DPS - the question of "aphid or not" I can't answer. It doesn't look much like what I know to be an aphid:

Aphids3

but I don't know how many varieties of aphids there are! We have the rose-loving ones, too.

leonaashlee, Thanks

I'll have to get my typing speed back! It's good to be back amongst the brightest and most interesting group I know. And when Nature amazes me, I'll post again! Starting Monday, I'll search out the -0- commented SYS posts again, and clean house like a good moderator, and try to remember to smell my roses as well as photographing them. Good to see you again, too, Leona.

I'm quite happy to see you back and to view some of your new macro work, jiminyClickit.

Amazing detail, and well-presented, as always.

4000 new members in less than 1 month?? That's remarkable!

Chip, Thanks

My Fuji seems to shine most when doing closeup work, so for now that's my favorite thing.

Growth and progress are good, I guess. And as a recent day showed, the most we ever had online at the same time was just over 800. Maybe we can maintain a community feeling anyway.

fstopMike, Thanks

It's good to take time off, especially to come back with fresh eyes and attitude. Two years and 10,000+ comments can wear one down, without some time to recharge and relax. I hope my displays of the tiny world continue to entertain.
