Saw a beautiful cloud last night filled with lightening... these were my first attemps at not only night photography, but lightening... (slow shutter, no flash, etc). Of course I got out the tripod and tried my best to explain to my husband why I couldn't take many photos in succession.....
Anyway, I thought I'd share... I could be the only one who thinks this was absolutely beautiful - wish I could've captured it a bit better. There are a few more posted on flickr.... ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/childer...7620429683267/ I had to use manual focus, which is also something I'm not so comfortable with yet (I'm still a noob)... I tried several different settings to get just what I wanted. I couldn't choose shutter priority or "night" setting.... guess I had to turn off the flash manually... it kept wanting to fire no matter... LOL. There was a "street lamp" off to my left which was a bit distracting... no post edit... Camera: Nikon D60 Exposure: 13 Aperture: f/4.2 Focal Length: 62 mm Focal Length: 61.7 mm ISO Speed: 400 Exposure Bias: 0 EV Flash: Off, Did not fire Date and Time (Original): 2009:08:01 21:36:09 |

Absolutely beautiful! I love that you can also see the stars in the sky above the clouds, gives a unique perspective of the scene.
