Default hummingbirds in a territorial war

My mom has a couple of hummingbird feeders in her yard in Tennessee and so I sat in a chair and waited and watched. These photos are not all that great for beauty etc but they are neat in how they capture behavior. These hummingbirds were chasing each other all over the place. Every once in a while one would stop for a drink and look out for the other......take a look for yourself!

"Hey this is mine, I got here first!"

"Uh Oh, there's trouble on the horizon.....maybe it'll fly by"

DSC_8959

"Oh #*%$@!, Got faked out by a 90 degree turn, Think quick!"

DSC_8949

"Ha!, I am pretty quick too! Catch me if you can!"

Fred, you did a great job capturing these shots as this birds are so fast. There appears to have been an intense aerial dogfight. Thanks for sharing.

Shalom!

I view of the events depicted in your excellent set (you are right about the light soft focus and other small technicalities) I guess the hebrew greeting (Shalom= peace!) is particluarly well fitted in this case.
I really enjoyed your story. I read the Hummers are very territorial and that is why experts recommend to install more than one feeder for them. I'm jealous and still waiting for them to discover the feeder in my garden.

Haha you got a great story line there Patrick. I love the second one where he has got his eye on where his mate is. Good work buddy it's a great set.

Dave.

Good series of images I like the captions. My friend has a feeder and when he sits out to watch them from about 15 feet away they will fly right up to him about 3 feet away and then take off. I haven't had a chance to get over there this year.
