Default creeper on orchid/ spider

Hi all, these are two of my toughest macros and most pleasing too! i've just put up my first set on flickr, wanted to thank DPS and all of you for being such a great community, and to say that this site helped me tremendously in realising my dream of doing serious photography.

I shot the creeper in an incessant drizzle, balancing myself with an umbrella between my neck & shoulder to protect mycam, struggling to balance my cheap tripod on a mud sack, two wobbly stones on top of each other, and an upsidedown mud pot lying around. With a set of three extension tubes, I was sweating (it was pretty cold at the time) by the time i got focus on this creeper. After trying different compositions I settled for this one. While I was packing up I realised the creeper end had entangled itself on the tripod lever too! not sure if that was natural or caused by my acrobatics. Snooped around to see if anyone was looking, the scene in itself would have made a good photo and convinced my family to disown me

Entwined- creeper on orchid

(The spider shot has been described in my flickr descr. i am pasting it here again- )
After struggling for one and half hours with this chirpy fellow, running behind him with a camera (heavy with the entire set of extension tubes) and tripod, literally begging him to stay still for a precious second, after innumerbale shots on my brand new 6.5 fps 40D, i finally got a few focused shots of him. Barely 1cm in size, this one was taken just before he jumped onto my glass and ran all over the camera setup. I just gave up ultimately- if he wasnt keen on a super portfolio by a budding photographer willing to dedicate his life to it, too bad but many thanks to him anyways, my first effort at an insect macro was not such an utter failure after all.

Thank you all for looking, thank you darren for running one of the most resourcesful feeds on the web.

Great shots! Personally I like the top one better, but I'm just biased because I don't like spiders, but the spider shots great too!! He looks a bit confused

Default Wow!

Goodness, you're dedicated. Both of these shots are absolutely amazing. I love the color. To be honest, I'm scared to high Heaven of spiders but for some reason that shot reminds me of a puppy. LOL.

These are both awesome! I am quite partial to spiders so I prefer the second one.

You didn't by any chance get a video of yourself chasing the spider? Sounds like fun to watch.
