Great panning shots.. the horizontal lines in the first shot add even more to the effect.. the eyes just follow those lines.. Great shots..

I've never used one, but a monopod would help. I ended up taking about 700 photos that day of which less than 100 survied my editting. I don't know if this is the appropriate term, but bracket the photos until you find the appropriate shutter speed. Then you just need to practice panning at the same speed as the subject. I think I'm added by the fact that I ride as well, so I have an idea of where and how fast these people are going. Trial and error.
