Default Family Beach Vacation

My family goes to the beach every year for a full week. By "family" I mean about 30 people or so. I have a TON in Flickr, so feel free to ramble over that way if you want to see more. Here are a few that I took that I just love:

Georgia, I love them all! They're so good. But that third one....it's extra special. The composition and the emotion that it evokes is what makes that image, and so much so, that I think it must be a much lesser photo in color.

It's actually not so bad in color, but I prefer a warm black and white processing on images that invoke emotion and drama like that one. I would have done it on the one of my husband by the water with the baby, but I thought it dulled the waves down too much... and wow they were cool. I took those pictures when the solar eclipse was happening in Asia and the high tide that night was freaking amazing!

I love that third shot too.

Could you explain how you got that effect? I would love to try that with my little nephew (2months old).

Thanks
