My first fireworks shoot. I learned lots - especially that the pictures turn out better when some sort of land, architecture or natural element grounds them, hence my favourites have the bridge and water in them.
This was my first shoot with a DSLR, a borrowed Olympus E-410 with a 40-150mm lens on a ball-head tripod. ( I had an 18-55 as well and didn't use it.) The sad thing is my digital superzoom P&S took pretty much as good pictures on "fireworks" mode and hand-held by my wife - when the children weren't "helping" her aim. *grin* Here we go, let me know what you think. ![]() Pre fireworks test shot before it got dark. I like that the capture was at the right time, it sort of looks like the sky is cracked open. These were fireworks from other people watching the fireworks who brought their own. ![]() One of the best starbursts I got in the night. It's a little over exposed, and smoky though. The wind was un-cooperative that night. ![]() My favourite photo of the night. It has been cropped but needs the top cropped tighter still I think. I love the water reflection on this one - our muddy river looks good! ![]() Another starburst - I got lots of them. I like this one though because it's not a long exposure and it kept the twinkling aspect of the shot. |
