Default How Did I Come to be Here?

How Did I Come to be Here?

How did I come to be here?
It's not where I wanted to be
It wasn't so long ago
I was on the beach and flying free

I didn't go very far
Just a simple little turn
Time and time again
Following the heart's every yearn

Little bit by little bit
I strayed so far away
Until I found myself
hundreds of miles from the bay

How did I come to be here?
It's not where I wanted to be
It wasn't so long ago
I was on the beach and flying free

Now I'm here all alone
My feet are blazing hot
The only water I can find
is a puddle in a lot

How I wish that I could find
The place that I once knew
Where the waves lapped the beaches
And the softest breezes blew

How did I come to be here?
It's not where I wanted to be
It wasn't so long ago
I was on the beach and flying free

Softly stirring deep within
A longing long forgotten
To search myself to find the truth
And leave this life so rotten

In the corners of my heart
There lies a place that's pure
Clean from me the filth and dirt
To find the way that's sure

How did I come to be here
It's not where I wanted to be
I'm going to fly, fly away
To find a life that's free

So I found this shore bird standing in the middle of our parking lot at work in Winder, GA about 250 miles from the coast. It got me to wondering and the muse in me woke up and started spouting forth words.
