Default Shooting Giants

I went to Calavaras Big Trees State Park in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California trying to find a unique view of the Giant Sequoias there. The point of these trees is obviously their tremendous size, but you can't photograph the whole thing so you have to find other ways of capturing their massiveness. I didn't have a toddler with me to look up at them in awe, I didn't have access to photograph the from the top (nearing 300 feet tall!), and I didn't have the time I wanted to think about it too much. (As it was, my family was looking for me and was about to call for a search party).

Anyway, how did I do? Any ideas of doing better?

Oh, anyone interested in learning more about these wonders can go to the website:

This shot was taken from between two "twins" looking out into the general forest. The other twin is out of the frame on the left.

The second one captures their majesty, for sure. Nice work.

It's just so difficult to portray the magnificence and magnitude of trees, isn't it? You have done a wonderful job the trees look amazing but I bet they are far more magnificent than the photos are showing us.

Hi Eric, this is a difficult task for sure. I really like your second shot. I always like the "looking up" view. It is very difficult to set these apart from any other trees in a forest just because there is nothing to really gage the scale to. We have been trying to plan a drive up there for the last couple of weeks. I am looking forward to our trip should we actually get to pull it off. Thanks for sharing these, I will start planning now how to try my hand at this. Not sure I can do any better then your nice shots here.

Great Captures, Yes it's very difficult so show the size of these, but your 2nd shot does just that and I love the last one as well, Kind of abstract in a way!
Thanks for Sharing these
