Default 6 Minute Exposure - Turning night into day

Hey all,

Here's my new shot for the day, a 6 minute exposure of this tower at La Perouse, Sydney. It was virtually pitch black out and the only light source (except for the moon) was a couple of streetlights in the distance behind me - hence why such a long exposure was needed.

I think my favourite part of it is the light streaks coming from the planes taking off from Sydney Airport a couple of miles in the distance.

I'd be glad to know what you think

Steve

It's captivating. The light streaks and clouds are great elements. And the details in the tower - wow! Do you know why it was built?

It looks as though there's a bank of floodlights behind you.

It's beautiful . . . almost looks like a painting.

I like this photo very much.

Thanks for all your kind comments.

@chip - yes there is a road about 20 meters or so behind where I stood to take the photo which was lit by a few streetlamps.

The tower was built in 1820 as a watchtower to keep an eye on smugglers ships entering Botany Bay and went on to become the earliest customs house in Australia in 1831.

The suburb of La Perouse was actually named after the first Frenchman to step foot in the country in 1788, 18 years after captain cook landed.
