Default Realism Studio assignment

Hey guys, so I haven't been around as much, the class I have this session, Art history, is something else, but I suppose in a good way. We had an assignment this week, using a painting from the Realism period as inspiration. I choose The Stone Breakers by Courbet, as well as the Gleaners by Millet. I just wanted to share what I took for that assignment. We have a spot in our community garden and that is what I centered it around...ecomonic hardship, community togetherness etc. I ended up shooting in the rain, as I was afraid it wouldn't stop before my assignment was due. I think that added to the final photo. Well, here they are, and thanks for looking. The verdict is still out for my grade, but I knew this was a great place to share.

This is the piece I submitted as my final assignment.
Gardener Sepia-old style sepia

This was the next runner up, my thought was no matter what the time period, "old days" (b&w of the photo) or the present (the color portion), hard work looks the same:
half and half_edited-2

This one I liked because you could see the strength in the arm muscle the result of hard work...as well as the leafy greenness from the hard work.
Community Garden

another option I passed on:
economic farmer
