Default Out and about with my kit lens!

I was out and about (aboot? I am Canadian!) today taking some photos and trying some new things as well as some of my usual stuff and decided I should share with all of you!

First we will start with the new:

I have started to toy around with the hip shots for street photography but unfortunately at 7 in the morning there were not many people about to try and capture but I did manage to get some park employees as they zoomed by me. With this being my first attempt I was happy with the results and quite enjoyed the angle of the shot myself.

Shot from the hip.

And then for the usual stuff:

While wandering around downtown I stopped by the Persephone theater and intended to try and fit as much of the building into my lens but then decided I wanted to only part of it and the sky.

Lines and Glass

I also came across this chess board which I had never noticed on prior visits to the river landing area and decided I would snap a few shots of it at a few different angles and I thought this one did the most justice.

Chess?

And then finally on my way back into the heart of downtown I looked to the sky to see if my crazy looking clouds were still above me and I noticed the reflections in the windows and the light reflecting from those windows onto another building and tried to capture it all by standing in the middle of the alley.

Below the lines

Thanks for looking!

Travis, I really like the second and fourth shots best, but they are all pretty good. Fun to just do a photo walk isn't it?

I've been walking almost daily since May now and I love it!

Thank you. I try my hardest to make sure that I try to take a different take on my subjects when at all possible

You have good technique, and a good eye, Travis. The entire set is free of noise, and the perspective is interesting. I specially like the chess board - I can almost feel the texture of the stone, and love the positioning in relation to the stools and table in the distance. Well done, and thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your comments I really appreciate them all of you! Without comments or even a tiny bit of critique I don't think any of us would grow as artists or as people

You made a good choice on the second shot. I think it's much more interesting with the sky and the reflections. I also like the reflections off the glass in the opposing building on the fourth shot. All of them are very good.
