Celebration of Light 2009

Every year, the city of Vancouver puts on a massive fireworks competition and invites other countries to compete. The fireworks are always the highlight of my summer! It almost didn't happen this year due to a lack of sponsors, but thankfully they came through and we can all enjoy four nights of beautiful fireworks displays. Kicking off the competition was team Canada, last year's winners, while South Africa, the U.K., and China will follow suit over the next week and a half. Though I'm sure you all have had your fill of fireworks photos from the 4th of July, here are some of the pictures I took last night!

Awesome set! I love the way firework pictures come out but have had only 1 chance to photograph fireworks and didn't come out too well

Thanks! I know what you mean; this is only my 2nd time shooting fireworks with a DSLR. Practice (and a tripod) are a must. Keep at it!

Top notch! I love the way you included the crowd in the last 2, and to me, the comp on the last one - crowd, mountain, and vertical arrangement of the fireworks - is fantastic.

And how fortunate that the wind was cooperating, too.
