Default Nikke Sue Nikon & The Raven Pt IV - The Raven

The raven is a series of pictures, each part linked together by verses in the poem. So in case you might have missed the other posts and would like to see them in context, they are here:

Part I:

Part II:
Nikki Sue Nikon & The Raven Pt II - The Still Waters

Part III:
http://digital-photography-school.co...ng-shoals.html

Softly floating through the hills
Soothing solace for the ears
Comes the call of The Raven
Find the secret of my tears

The Rhododendron points the way
Says legend of days gone by
When the shoals of Dodd start laughing
The secret is surely nigh

The Hemlocks high above
Rhododendron down below
Seek the tears of The Raven
and the secret of the flow

Round the bend and cross the roots
The pixies spread their blooms
A trail blazed with Rhododendron
Where the quiet water looms

Find your peace and rest your soul
In waters lying still
For soon The Raven comes
and with him turmoil will

The Hemlocks high above
Rhododendron down below
Seek the tears of The Raven
and the secret of the flow

Silently seeking soft asylum
Beside the waters still
My reverie rudely rousted
By echoes from yonder hill

Onward, upward, ever pressing
The mountain's misty path
My heart burst in hilarity
At the sound of Dodd Creek's laugh

The Hemlocks high above
Rhododendron down below
Seek the tears of The Raven
and the secret of the flow

Standing among the shoals of Dodd
The fountains freely falling
Above the din the whisper soft -
Tears of The Raven calling

Setting forth with anxious purpose
Following the waters flow
The whisper growing ever louder
Soon the secret I'd know

The Hemlocks high above
Rhododendron down below
Seek the tears of The Raven
and the secret of the flow

Through a duct in the Cliffs of Raven
Her tears do softly flow
Gathering sorrows along their way
Cleansing the land below

Spreading peace and tranquil thoughts
to many from high and low
Til they find their final resting place
in the Gulf of Mexico

What I've been presenting is Raven Cliffs National Wildlife Management Area in the Chattahoochee National Forest in White County, Georgia. The series is a collection of pictures taken on a 2.5 mile trail from the trailhead to the cliffs. It is full of wonder and beauty. The cliffs are so named because of the ravens living there. I did not have time to find a way to the top of the cliffs, but will return again someday to bask in its beauty and see the view from the top. I hope you've enjoyed them and there just might be one more post with some more pics--no more rhymes...my muse is tired!

Well, I was hoping for actual raven's but I ain't complaining.

Great shots, Mike. The whole series just exudes calm and serenity with a touch of mystery thrown in for good measure.

Sorry about not catching a raven, but this place is less than 2 hours from my front door, so I'll be going back...maybe then

I've just spent some time looking at your photos in the original size on Flickr. Funny how spending time with a photo can slow the brain, breath, and heart to a stroll, bringing one back to this moment. An aside. There was a wonderful street person near my old office several years ago named Tree. I loved asking him the time. He would show me his watch and it always said: Now. Back to your photos. How does rock come to have box-like edges? That's just fascinating! Oh, Mike. Dappled light is grand! This is a mighty fine way to start a day and end a week.

I love the series, you've got some nice shots. Raven Cliff Falls, is one of my favorite waterfalls in Georgia.
