portraits doesn't seem to work well with me. this is one of the first portraits i tried pulling off for a friend.

Thanks, Ryan! Yeah, now that you mentioned the background, i guess you're right. Hmm...i gotta try working with some other background.

Well it is all one colour so it should be easy to see if a different colour would work better if you use the colour replacer in photoshop.

Not too sure if I like the background colour either, but a bit of post production can work wonders. I am a cheat and dont play with my photos too much - photoshop is too lenthy so I prefer the cheats and easy way of using Picasa3. Hope you dont mind, but I saved a copy of your pic and all I did was change it to black and white. Never give up - practice your portraits, and if all else fails, have a play PP.

Thanks Michelle! Yeah, i love picasa. I had tried playing with this one in Picasa but diddnt seem to work well. Otherwise i am a big Picasa fan. The BW copy you made looks fine. I guess i'll play around with something colorful. Thanks again!

Not bad for a first time portrait. I like the space on the right you provided for the "what is he looking at" tone in the portrait. Your friends photo looks well focused and sharp.
