The horse is really a very impressive beast.
ftboah posts some stunning horse pictures and I know Gary posted some with his son, but these are right up there with the best Bill, my favourite is the middle picture which is excellent

That second shot is absolutely stunning! And that wagon on their hitch is to die for.

Was this a driving competition?

I really like the motion on the horse's mane in the second one, so that makes it my fave.

They were the most gentle of horses, gentle giants is the only description, they were beautiful

It was billed as a Heavy Horse show even though there were all sorts of little ponies and donkeys. The horse and carts drove round the fiels and I think the judges were watching how the trotted and the condition of the cart. They also had solo horses that were ran up and down with their handler. If you would like to see more they are on flickr.

I think I might be a little afraid of horses but the farmer we were talking to encouraged us to go closer to his horses and I was brilliant to be so close.

I was shooting on shutter speed and I must admit I liked how it came out.

These draft horses are majestic. Your photos do a wonderful job of showing their powerful strength. And yet, because these shots are so sharp, you can almost feel the softness in that spot just above the nostrils on the horse in your second photo and also feel his breath. Lovely, Bill. Your Flickr shots--all of them--are wonderful. Especially the prickly pear...in Scotland!
