Default The Magical Gasworks

My alpine vacation is over, so no landscape fun this week. To get my photographic fix, I went down to my local gasworks museum yesterday. Last time I was there, I figired there was enormous potential for machinery shots , but it'd take a lot of learning and experimentation for me to make anything good. So yesterday I made a start.

Engines of Creation

There are so many elements to play with in there: shiny metal, glass oil reservoirs and steam. Add the complications of victorian clutter and unattractive windows and it was all a bit intimidating, but after a few experiments, I started to get the hang of it.

Elixir 6

Elixir 3

The best part about the place is that hardly anyone knows it exists, apart from the three old gents who run things, so I have the place to myself. Once I come to grips with shooting the machines and rooms, I plan to turn my camera onto Stan, Tom and Bill, and even take some models in there. It's like a learning lab for photography.

Bill and the boiler

Thanks for looking.

This is an excellent series of outstanding photographs!
Seen together they are "more". The place is a great find for photo-oportunities.
You captured them in a superb way.

Great set. If the gent in the last photo was Igor it would remind me of a scene in an old movie of Frankenstein cool shots
