Default Beautiful River - But Don't Swim Here!

This is one of my favorite places - Myakka River State Park. A beautiful river, lovely woods, fishing, nature trails, treetop walk, birds, and GATORS!

Lazy River

From the birdwalk
During the summer this entire area is flooded with the river. You can still walk the birdwalk, but there are lots of gators swimming around it - and there are no real railings. But in the spring - it's a bird's delight!

Lone kayaker
But he'd better not tip over!

And here is why!
Gator!

Whoa, you had me till you said gators! I'm thinkin' that itty-bitty boat is a little on the small size in shot three. I think a Fast Frigate would be small enough!

Wow this is a lovely place, that guy in the kayak is braver than me. You wouldn't catch me in that little boat and I just love your picture of the reason why. Go get him gator..lol Very nice work mad editor.

These are great. In #3 I swear the person in the boat is looking right at a gator coming towards them from the shore. I think I will pass on this little adventure. Beautiful to look at from my computer desk!

Surprisingly, there are many people who go kayking and canoeing on that river. Not I. I have been out there is a boat, but a much larger one.

Hahahaha...I have another shot where there are two kayaks and one of the kayakers is pointing way out there as if to say, "Gators!"

Thanks, Jake. This Long Islander who grew up in New York City sort of freaked out the first few times I've been close to them. Now I kind of enjoy them - at a reasonable distance, of course!

I don't think I'd be in there, boat or not. Great shots.
