Default The Tiara Retires

Several months ago, this image of a painting by Norman Rockwell popped into my brain and seemed to haunt me. It's a painting I have always loved because it is so poignant and I remember when I was the age of this young girl wondering what would become of me. One day, my muse said to me "why don't you do a photographic homage to this painting only do it in reverse? You are turning 65 you know?" So, I figured the muse was smoking crack and proceeded to ignore this insane suggestion. Next thing I know, I'm at a second hand store and there's a chair for $8.oo just like the one in the photo. "Fine, I'll buy it" I said to the muse "but don't get too worked up!" The muse smiled coyly and reminded me that I also had a green rug. On it went and one by one the barriers to doing this self portrait fell by the wayside. I'll spare you the details of the time and energy that went into taking this photo but the summary of this whole process would be this: I fought the muse and muse won.

It would also be true to say that this is a photo I wanted to take at this significant juncture for my children and grandchildren. In the spirit of self disclosure, I also wanted to share it with you all. By rights, I should be sharing this photo in the Self Portrait thread. I didn't want to, however, because my virtual family lives here, in SYS. Finally, I'm getting away for a couple days. I told my husband I would post this photo and then leave town! He promised to have the engine running.

Linda, that is one hell of a moving shot! I am speechless due to the emotions that it brought about. It is a beautiful shot that was done perfectly!! No need to post and run.

Your muse may be on crack, however what you are doing with her prodding just plain needs to continue!

I hope that you had a wonderful birthday and that you and your husband had a marvelous time away!!!!

Oh my Lindy, that is absolutely gorgeous! I love the feel and emotion to it as well. A picture is worth a thousand words! This photo speaks volumes for sure. Your muse was right and I am so glad it won out! I agree there is no need to run anywhere. You should be so proud! Your children and your grandchildren will cherish this photo forever. I LOVE it and I think you are brilliant. You are beautiful vibrant woman! I hope your birthday was/is the fantastic day you deserve. Thank you for posting this my friend!

Happy Birthday, Lindy

It's time to turn that tiara in for a crown. A crown of wisdom, a crown of mentoring, a crown of grandmothering and a crown of sharing with your friends at DPS. Thanks for all you've contributed here.

Default Stunning

I am brand new to this forum, and am looking around. This image is absolutely stunning.

As an observer, I am glad the muse won.

I looked at the painting and this is a stunning rendition! I don`t how you do it, how you can conjure up so many varied and wonderful pictures, the artist within is coming out and it`s great to be allowed to participate and view your pictures
