Default First Photo of a Church

I took this in the first few minutes of light this morning. I feel like it is an OK shot but that it needs something to make it great and I am not sure what that something is.

St Vencent Pallotti Church

Very nice photo. Can't see much room for improvement. Maybe brighten up the church a bit to provide contrast to the dark trees and darkish sky.

How about this: with PhotoShop Elements 7, brightened up the white parts of the church and the steeple -- also took out those awful football stadium speakers. (Why do people do that to otherwise beautiful churches? Not only are they ugly, but blare obviously over-amped recordings of churchbells instead using their wonderfully melodic real bells.)

Thank you all for your kind words. I agree getting rid of those speakers helped a lot.

This is a good image that needs a little tweek. Many times I like to shoot a little dark. Shorter exposure times. Then I have more to work with in PP. You can always lighten up an image in post, but it is not easy to and sometimes impossible to darken an image that is too light.

Just keep shooting, bracket your shots if your not sure of the exposure and keep track of what works. If you already knew all this, please forgive the lecture.

i think the sky is too bright and the church is dim. probably a gradient effect will do the trick. but im not an expert in pp either. nice shot though!

It's an outstanding image to begin with. All I'd do is remove the speakers as said before and turn up the highlights a little and brighten the shadows some. Very nice work though Scott.. you have a good eye. I really like it.
