Default Looking around Kentucky again

As I was rummaging through older photos, I ran across some taken before my dslr days (FEB). These shots were taken in December and January and it's normally drab in appearance outdoors at this time of year.....This is when I want to move, but Spring saves me again and again. These shots offer varying slivers of life and landscape in our area.
The first is of a couple of old barns...nothing extraordinary here.

I always liked this shot because of it raw simplicity.....it's a tree.....sort of......and then the mind starts asking alot of questions.

These horses all came from about 100 yards away as a group to come converse with me....They showed alot of jealousy of my attention. The cast is routine for developing a race horse....the vets injure the bone and allow it to heal repetitively so as to build up density in the shin.....this is where horses meet their untimely death...when their shins break in a race.....so this is preventive maintenance......sounds cruel for the horse though!

This was the first glimpse of any sun after the big ice storm of 2009

Hope you enjoyed seeing Kentucky in another season

Nice pics patrick, i like the orange glow on the tree of the last one. The ice gives it some great reflections.

The tree looks so lonely. You know I have a thing for trees with character! And the last shot, as beautiful as it is, brings back the cold memories of last winters ice! It was really a bad one around here, although it did make for some awesome pictures!

Nice shots, and I beg to differ about the barns. Love it, there is so much atmosphere in the picture, maybe a little PP like getting rid of the power lines and a bit of dodge and burn, but I think it is great.

Patrick great work. I have missed seeing your work, but I am trying to be good and stay more focused on school. This site is so additing I have a hard time just looking at a couple of things. I love that last one, the sunset is just stunning! I love that the sun reflects off the ice covered tree. I also really like that b&w tree. Its an interesting subject. Great stuff! Keep up the great work!

Well, I sure enjoyed seeing them. Nice work Patrick. That old tree begs a lot of questions doesn't it? Love the sunset. Especially with all the ice reflecting that blazing orange.
