Unhappy So Long DPS

I was planning to sell my P&S (Nikon Coolpix P90) on eBay and upgrade to a DSLR and so I did. Turns out to be a scam. It was too late by the time i figured this out. I probably wont have a camera for a long time and now I will be sitting in my home doing nothing, but I will still critique and stuff like that.
So long DPS you have been great.

I thought Ebay was pretty well protected against stuff like that. I'm so sorry....also check Craig's List...but be very careful...I'm sure you've learned that lesson the hard way like I've learned so many of mine. Don't go anywhere...one never knows...keep posting.

sorry to hear about that.....by all means, work with e-bay and if you paid by credit card especially american express, your purchase will be reimbursed by fraud protection plan...don't give up too soon!

Can you tell us what the scam was ? - Perhaps you can help keep someone here from going through the same problem you have?

It was a scam through paypal. The buyer was asking that I send the camera to Nigeria and he will add $100 to the total cost but i had to send it first and then he would pay. have you tried contacting paypal directly?
weren't you covered with their buyer protection?

There has been so much published about nigerian scams...a friends daughter sent money for a caravan...why the heck she wanted to do that ill never know but anyway its common.
always check the buyers feedback and see the sellers ratings...id never buy anything from a seller with lower than 98% positive feedback...i was also scamed a long ago. Another thing is to check how much insurance protection they have, this can be really important when buying more expensive things.
contact ebay!!! and post a feedback to warn others of this seller.

yes Nigeria.......nothing good ever comes out of Nigeria when it deals with financial transactions...they have been it doing for so long, I am a bit surprised that you hadn't heard of it before. The moment the word Nigeria flashed across the page......I knew already.....I am surprised that Paypal would honor a payment to Nigeria without intense scrutiny but I guess, they figure it is your money and they don't worry about it and they probably won't worry too much about helping you get your money back either unfortunately....what an unfortunate occurrence!

Not to be totally cynical here, but selling a used coolpix is not going to give one enough money to buy a new DSLR. Perhaps this is the scam to get someone to feel sorry enough to give a sweet deal that they don't feel they would get otherwise.
