Ah it is a butterfly/moth... I was expecting some kind of large bird

I can see how it gets its name.

I thought I was getting an owl, but this butterfly has a very neat looking pattern on its wings!

Sorry for the confusion..... And thank you for the comments.....

It is a butterfly..... Here is a little info...

Butterflies in the genus Caligo are commonly called Owl butterflies, after their huge eyespots, which resemble owls' eyes. There are about 20 species in the genus, found in the rainforests and secondary forests of Mexico, Central and South America.

This butterfly was beautiful!
