Smile Gorgeous Family

Finally, here are a few of my favorites from the shoot I had on Saturday with the family that found me on Google (first clients to find me that way!). They are from my hometown, but currently living in Tokyo. They were home for a few days to attend a wedding and wanted some portraits done.

It was very tricky getting most of these - thank goodness for RAW! - because the shoot was at high noon on a bright and sunny day. I was able to find some shaded areas of the park we shot at, but most of the photos needed tweaking. A lot were either overexposed or underexposed, but out of the 140 or so I took, about 132 were keepers at first, and after reviewing them, I ended up with about 75 proofs (closed eyes on a couple, goofy expressions on a couple, some I just plain didn't like).

Anyway, I'm really happy with how they came out, and I truly hope they like them as much as I do! They were SO nice, and so much fun. Doesn't hurt when every member of the family is a looker, too!

More can be seen on my Flickr HERE

As always, thanks for looking!

These are lovely Susan. I'm sure they are happy with them...and you're right, they are all lookers.

Thanks so much, Leona! They haven't even seen them yet - I just finished editing them for proofing today, LOL! Aren't they all so good looking?

Wow, thanks, Jared!!! I really struggled with the skin tones - thank God I shot in RAW. I used DPP for fixing the ouches and Elements 7 for the final touches.

Yep, reflector only! Sometimes used to reflect light, sometimes used to diffuse the harsh sun, sometimes a little of both. Joey was my ever-able assistant, as usual. For an eleven year old, that kid knows his stuff, and I barely needed to give him any instruction as to where I needed light or diffusion. He amazes me and is going to kick my arse one day in photography!

You decided to hang your shingle, I hope you didn't think it would be just " prom " pictures ! There's a responsibity to do the very best you can when your doing it for someone else, whether it's photography or fixing thier car lol .. when there's a fee involved you have to produce...

You were prepared and adapted to conditions and you did your job. Many people claim they know what they are doing fixing a car and make it worse and changing the Oil in the engine doesn't fix a steering problem, it might be fun for them working on cars.. but when your being paid it's probably not going to be all fun, like someone carrying around a camera and a big ass lense shooting birds in the woods for fun.( the Birds ain't payin )

I never doubted you'd get what you needed, I know you had concerns about the time of day and it's good to be nervous and a little worried, over confident photographers aren't pushing it and get average results, and your not average.

First big one is over.. won't be a time crunch next time and you'll have more control and it won't be your first family with no option for re-shooting if you really had to .. really alot of pressure is off now .

I'm not commenting on the actually photos, because they are all good and I have no need to tell one of my best buddies she did good, she already knows she did

/hug
