Default Meet the In-laws

My in-laws are visitng and there are staying with us, and will be for a long time. (wish me luck everybody). That makes me become a completely different person (not their fault), I become very self-conscious and having been avoiding the camera lately. A couple of weeks ago I did manage to break out of my shell and take a few shots of theirs. Now only if I could do that more often I'd be a good soul.

i feel its hard to capture someone's sense of wisdom and experience, but you've done it so well here. absolutely great. im sure that earns a lot of points with the inlaws =)

Wow! I like all of them! I'm drawn to the second one (muted colors) and the last/fourth one (the artistic pose). Well done!

Nice pics!

I am a newbie to photography. Just got my hands on a DSLR (Nikon D200). I am trying to take pics with blurred background (like you have it) and haven't been successful. I tried looking online and tried the suggestions, but no luck. Can you please tell me how you did it? And how it can be done on a Nikon?

Good Luck !! The shots came out wonderful... your father in law reminds me of a step father I had (yeah yeah I had more then one) who was basically a nice guy but he had a quiet way of knowing everything and you could see it on his face when he disagreed with how you did everything.

Grab the camera more if you get a chance.... great release

You need to set the lens to it's widest (smallest number) aperature to get a nice blurred background. It's also more pronounced when you zoom in on a subject while using a wide aperature. Google around a bit or pickup a beginners book on photography at the library...there's a ton of information on the subject.
