I've got a request following my last thread: Red Moon: Time lapse of a transformation.
Originally Posted by Gonzo13 Those are some great shots. I would love to see something like that of an eclipse. I answered: Thanks for your words. I'll see what I can do about it. I seem to remember I had some shots taken in the past...we shall see. I'll keep you posted So, I searched my photo archives and I found my old eclipse pictures. In chronological order, during 2006 we witnessed a nice solar eclipse at noon time. The individual pictures were taken by an old acquaintance who had a better camera at the time (Sorry, but I have no idea of the make and model or EXIF of those, I just got the corresponding processed jpgs) For the time lapse ring we used a piece of an old developed film as filter. The second picture corresponds to lunar eclipse that took place during a clear night in 2007. The time lapse pictures were taken with my old P&S camera: Olympus Camedia C-990 3xZoom, 2.1-MP. and the full moon was taken by a good friend of mine in NJ a month later. He used his brand new (at the time) Pentax K10D (ISO 400, Exp:1/60, no flash) Hope you like them!

These two photos are educational, inspirational and beautiful. I do hope you are actively seeking ways to give them the wider they deserve! The graphics are just amazing!

Hmmm. I didn't think about it. I just wanted to satisfy Gonzo's curiosity. I felt it was an interesting challenge to do something more creative with those old shots. By all means please feel free to use them or suggest them to anyone who may find it useful for educational purposes. I tried to submit to the astronomical picture of the day, but their process is cumbersome and I gave up.

Nature is beautiful, I just reshuffle and try not to mess it up. The scope and power of postprocessing is virtually endless, this is just the tip of the iceberg. When you start playing with an idea you only know where you start and the end of that process is to be revealed by the process itself. It is a lot of fun!
