Default Let me show you around

We went on a little drive today, just for something to do, and I thought you all might like to see the little part of Australia that I live in.
When I was a child these plants were only known as "Black Boys" not politically correct now days so they are commonly known as grass trees. They are very slow growing, they say a foot every hundred years, but I don't think it's quite that bad. These are the tallest specimens I have seen.

They also provide shelter under their "skirts" for animals from cold and heat.

Check this photo out on flickr, it just needs to seen larger

They look like a cousin to a Palm tree. I like the way you posted these. You get the perspective on their height in the first, the way they grow in a grove in the second, a darned good frame for a cutie in the third and the artistic used of form and light shot in your last photo. Very informative, interesting and beautiful.

Interesting type of tree...looks as though it ought to be in Hawaii. Is this a coastal type of tree or more of an outback type?
