Default concert shots, I hate low light!

Man I hate low light! Noisy, dark, pictures! lol. Its always a learning curve for me and getting out of my comfort zone, walking around the stage to try and get decent angles.

My favorite shot was the first one that I posted here, but I have to give crazy credit to you guys who do concerts, its definately tough!

I think you did a great job here, I also like the first shot, I bet those shots are really hard to do in a very dark environment. great job, thanks for sharing these.

Thanks, the toughest part was getting the speed quick enough for me. I had it full M, (I think low light is really the only time I do that...) and had everything on camera cranked up except the iso. I still had to go slower than I wanted to. 1/30. The first few pictures couldn't really turn out cause I had it at 1/50, and they all just came out too dark.

Thanks! Yeah the first one when I got it home on the computer, my first thought was "ooooo time to get rid of some background"

Ryan, you said you bumped up everything but the ISO...just curious, where did you have your ISO set, and what was your gear?

Cameras do matter. A Nikon D3 @ ISO 6400 max. + fast lens is easier.

My gear is the D40 with the stock lens. The ISO I bumped a little, I had it at 400. I can tolerate the noise level at that setting, especially in black and white, but if I go higher than that the noise gets CRAZY.

Yeah I looked at some fast lenses and I know the better quality bodies does better with higher iso's. how does the D3 do at 6400? how much noise is visible?
