Default Short "Tour de Wellington"

I had only had my new Nikon D300 for a few days and I was keen to try it out so walked 5 mins down the road from home and discovered there was a National Cycle Race in the main shopping streets of Wellington City, New Zealand on the 25 Jan 2009.

note the TV cameraman taking shots at ground level

on a bend where some riders came adrift when touching that metal plate on the road - I didn't see any but other photographers had

Great shots. The composition is fantastic. I am a cyclist so I just love these shots. Most likely, since they are being held in the downtown area it may be assumed that the race is a "criterium" which is a short race usually around 2-5 miles.

Hi Hearterguy - yes the race was short - went for a couple of hours I think and it was approx. a 2min lap time. Cheers, Bernz

Just did a google search and found details about it - Trust House Cycle Race and Wellington Stage 7

Next year will involve 30 overseas riders and 60 NZ riders.

Cheers, Bernz

Really well done! I especially like the 1st and 3rd ones, with the sense of movement and the way you got down low for these shots. Impressive.
