Default First Attempt at Shooting Fireworks

So, I've never shot fireworks before, and I just tried it for the first time last night. Here are a few of the highlights from the set:

I was a little disappointed with the show because it only lasted for about 15 minutes, and I didn't get nearly as many shots as I would have liked. Oh well. It was a good learning experience, if nothing else.

There is another fireworks display in about a week and a half. I plan on trying to shoot at that one as well.

Also, there are some more pictures of the fireworks on my Flickr if you care to see them.

I hope you enjoy the shots!

Wow! These are wonderful! I just love the first one. I hope my first fireworks turn out half this good.

Thanks, Allyson!

I really like the first one as well. It's simple and still very colorful. I am really happy with how it turned out.

I would definitely recommend trying to shoot fireworks. It's a lot of fun. The guide on shooting fireworks (How to Photograph Fireworks Displays) was a big help to me. Just make sure you get there early. That way you're not scrambling to get set up like I was last night. Haha. Anticipation is the key. But, I found that shooting them isn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I still see where I can improve, so that's good.

If you're able to get some fireworks shots, post them. I'd love to see them!

Thanks again for the compliment.

Wow, I'd say you nailed it for your first try. I like them all but the last one is really cool. I've tried several times but mine aren't nearly as good as these! Great Job!

It's amazing what the eye misses and what the camera catches! I bet you most people didn't notice all the colors in the 1st photo. I took my first ones this year and since it was only a few from the neighborhood, I didn't get that many, but the one's I did get were really nice. And everyone commented that they did not notice all the colors. Great job!

Wow, thanks for all the comments/compliments, everyone.

We have a few more fireworks displays left in the season, one of which is Sunday. I'm going to shoot those as well in addition to any others I can get to.

EF: Yes, I do have the EXIF data for the photos. It is as follows:

Focal Length: 21mm
Aperture: f/11.0
ISO Speed: 100

The shutter speeds for each photo are 2 sec, 9 sec, 10 sec, and 12 sec, respectively.

Thanks again, everyone!
