Default a very disgruntled bumblebee

I was at the Winchester Walking Trail at lunch yesterday and I was just looking around for something that might catch my eye and I noticed a couple of bumblebees bumbling from flower to flower and was getting frustrated with them leaving too quickly....I guess the pollen is just about gone. Then I remembered that I had a spray bottle in my car loaded with water....sometimes my kids use it to spritz their faces in the hot weather while we're driving along, but in any case, I thought I would slow down the bees a bit by spraying them down......so what follows is a couple shots of a temporarily disabled bee who was reduced to climbing up the plant the hard way to get to the sun so he could dry off and fly away.....Thought it was funny looking. The daisies were the result of spray bottle play...Spray and place on roof of car and shoot to get reflection and all.....one is stilll in the ground and the other plucked and taken to the car to be exact. Not exactly inspirational but enough to knock the edge off of my boredom!

Tell me, where any bumblebees harmed in the taking of this picture??? Do I need to contact PETA? He looks a lot like he got caught in a sudden thunderstorm and if that's the worst that happened to him yesterday, that's probably not a bad day. Nice daisy shots and the reflection off the car is a good idea. Maybe a bear on that path would break your boredom....

There is a first time for almost anything!
This is the first time I see a bee right out from the shower.
I would like to think that the bee was also happy to get a splash in a hot day.
The pictures look funny. But, hey, they stopped moving. A focused wet bee is better than a dry blurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
I personally like the last picture the most. Beautiful composition, color and sharpness.

Great shots! I'll have to remember to soak-a-bee next I try shooting them....with a camera or course. I do like the Daisy on the car the best nice color, reflection and contrast.

I've never seen a wet bumble bee before. Too cool. Thank you for showing me in full detail. Great photos! The last one with the reflection is my favorite. Brilliant idea to use your car as a reflective background.

Thanks for sharing these!

A few quick squirts but at a highly fine mist, not a stream so as to drown the thing.....just enough to make it sit there infuriated

No harm done...actually it got some good leg exercise crawling up to the top of the plant to do some sunbathing

Yes, I think it was a first for me too......I have hit them with a hose before especially if they were actually after me, but not for the purposes of photographic fun!

Yep, if you are lucky, you might be able to freeze them right on a flower bud and get water droplets all at the same time....that's a bonus!
