Default prom shoot..a little different

I wanted to do something a little different as well as the normal type of shots on this session. I was quite pleased with the results and the client loved them, so thought I would share one of the images with you good folks.

Wow, I really like this shot and the composition and color work so well. Her smile indicates she is probably a little shy.

Bless her...she was INCREDIBLY shy! She'd only recently had her braces removed after nearly 2 years and for such a pretty young girl had so little confidence.

Magnificent shot. It works so well... the dark red agains the "old castle" kinda wall. The spot light from above really puts the emphasis on a beautiful young lady. xx

'Princess in the Castle' is sort of what I had in mind...but with the piano (no idea why really!).

As for lighting, I used a small softbox high up in front of the model pointing down (positioned around 8-10 feet away), plus a larger softbox pointed into the left-hand wall, so as to pick out some detail but not completely illuminate the background.

Well... I was asking myself "why the piano" at first.. but .. after looking at the image a few times now I think that without it the whole image would be slightly unbalanced. It needed something in the corner otherwise the girl would have seemed to central and to lost in a big room. Or am I talking rubbish now ??? xx
