Default More Fireworks and Stuff

We finally had some amazing weather here and were able to watch the fireworks display in a nearby city. This was my first time with a digital camera trying to shoot 'em. I totally stunk when I tried years ago with film. The biggest thing I learned was to know where they are launched from, and if you can't find that out bring more then one lens. I figured I was safe with the 70-300mm but nope I was wrong. I was bored before the fireworks went off and ended up takings tons of pics of kids playing with light sticks. One of my favorite shots of that is in here too.

You can see that we were pretty close to where they did the launching which was ok for the lower ground type of stuff like this, but not the aerial ones.

Thank You Hayward. We too, are glad we got a break, but the rain is back in the forecast again for tomorrow and the rest of the week. geez I loved that one when I took it. The kid did a good job posing for me and waving the wand in front of and behind the kids he was sitting with.

Thank You, Yes you should try. Just make sure you have a nice wide angle lens and a tripod.

I love all the recent firework shots - some real talent out there - even if it is in celebration of your telling us where to get off

I will have to wait until 5 November to try my hand at this, when we commemorate old Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament

Very nicely done, and I'm sure they were much harder to get with that bigger lens.
