Default Climbing "Neat and Cool" in Squamish

I went up to the Smoke Bluffs in Squamish, with a friend, to shoot some climbing photos. This asian fellow was climbing a great route called "Neat and Cool", which is rated 5.10a. It was the first time I saw someone do a lead, although I am certain many have led this route before. It was exhilarating to watch, and to shoot! The climber is just starting the traverse section of the climb. He is working toward the crack on the upper right side of the photo, that angles from right to left at about a 60 degree angle.

I decided to add enough shots to provide a sequence of moves this guy faced. I think it will put you more in his shoes!

Very cool shot. My rock climbing days are long gone but, I still enjoy watching it sometimes. Nice going on the photo.

Thanks for the comments, and I am glad that you enjoyed the initial photo, although I added more to make the sequence better. I was lucky to find a "perch" on some rock outcrops at the base of this climb to get a decent angle and stay out of the line of the sun as much as possible. It was a blast, and I will definitely go back to Squamish to shoot more photos. There is something about extreme sports. Cheers

Those are very nice. Sadly our rock climbing spots up here in Quesnel have all been blasted away - we have never had anything as amazing as Squamish rock to climb.

I really like that you included enough shots that we could see that part of his route. I really like the colour of the climber against the rock, it looks neat, and he really pops.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comments. Yes, Squamish is an amazing rock climbing mecca! I talked to a number of climbers yesterday, and many were from the United States (Washington State, Oregon, California), and some were from other continents, such as Australia, and China. It was too bad that I could not stay longer than about 1pm as it was my wife's birthday, and I had to take her out for dinner! She is very understanding when it comes to my passion for photography! Lucky me! Thanks again for the comments. The feedback you get here is why I love this site!
