Just joined today hoping to learn more about our common interest. Would appreciate comments on this photo taken with a 400D and a Tamron 28-300VC at 154mm, f5.6:

Hope you will enjoy your experience here.
Regarding your picture. It is a good shot! with good DoF and exposure.
I'd personally like to see a tighter crop leaving out the red spot (which is a big distracting) and I think the butterfly could be relocated from the center to the about 1/3 mark on the left side. Perhaps that would you lead to a more interesting composition.

First of all fotog Welcome to our friendly forums here at dps. Your photograph is gorgeous and the colours and detail are stunning and a lovely way to start your time here.
A little tip. Go to flickr and show the medium version of the picture and scroll down. Click in the first box with all the writing and then copy. Go to your post and paste in the text. Go to preview and you will see your picture, If you are happy, then submit the post.
Your picture then appears when you open the post. You will get more members looking and maybe commenting.

Enjoy your time here at dps and most of all have fun. I do

Default Is This Any Better?

Did as flavio suggested - took out the red spot and cropped to move the butterfly more to the left. Hope this turns out better.
