Default Cute engagement couple

I did an engagement shoot the other day and this couple was really fun to work with. I got some great shots, the 1st one being my favorite!

Up front I do not like the added effect in the third one. It looks dumb...sorry but it does. The second one is good, the first looks like the cover to a porno

First and second ones are great (disagree completely with the porno cover assesment). However, I do agree that the "starburst" effect looks a little cheesy. All in all, really nice looking pictures.

Well obviously the person who commented first thinks this is the critique forum... which it is NOT! I think it would be so fun to do an engagement shoot especially with a young fun couple. so congrats on getting that opportunity! I really like the second one there and i think that the first one is pretty cute. Its all about showing the couple's personalities through the photos and the way they interact with each other and i think you did a great job with that.

I gave them a picture with and without the starburst for the 3rd one so they could choose what they liked better. I thought it was kind of fun, but I guess to each his own.

No worries, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Like I said they had their proofs with and without it so they could make their own decision on what they like.

Sarah, these captures are lovely and I bet the couple enjoyed them too. They did some lovely poses for you and you captured the moments so well. I would be proud for you to do some for me. I think you did an excellent job. Well Done! You should be proud.

Dave.

When it comes to photography, I had to learn that lesson over again. Chances are, this couple had seen other photos you'd taken and liked them. That is to say, they liked your style. In which case, them asking you to take the photos is kind of like them saying they trust you. That they know they'll get your best effort and they will be happy with it.

Again... great shots... looking forward to seeing more.

The first one is interesting, with the tall grass behind them, and how stretched out the girl is, pushing forwards with the ball of her foot. It does make me feel a bit voyeuristic, but I think that's the point.

The second one, I can imagine myself in that guy's place. I always get the urge to laugh and be ticklish when I shouldn't, I think you captured that very well.

I'd like to see the third w/o the starburst. It's an ok picture as it is, but I agree with the cheesiness effect. That being said, to each their own - if they like it, great!

It reminds me of advice I got once though from a photographer shooting me. (Wedding shoot.) She said it's easier to get a sensual feeling from an "almost" kiss, than it is from a real kiss, most people are not very photogenic when they're lip-locked. The anticipation moment seems to come through better in a photo.

Thanks for sharing. It takes guts. I know, I just started sharing, and I find it really easy to be defensive of something I thought at the time I was just putting up to see if anyone else thought it was any good - when they don't I get protective.

I like them all...nice work. I'm going to be doing some soon of my 18 year old granddaughter and her boyfriend/fiance, and these give me some good ideas. Thanks for sharing.
