Default Chicken Breast

I was hoping to capture the incredible color combination on this rooster and I think I got pretty lucky. I want to go back and try again because I was using a 75-300mm lens and it isn't the sharpest one I have. I want to try my 50mm prime. I think I missed a smidge in the focus with this. Thanks for looking! My first chicken photo!

What great colors! I can't imagine it being much better but I'd love to see it again with your 50 mm!

Thanks! Just what is the general name for this species of fowl if it is not chicken?
