Default My Tern

Continuing from the Pelicans, here are the Royal Terns. These guys are much smaller and faster, so they are not as good as the Pelicans.

Nice Captures Fred! It's hard to capture them in flight. But you did a great job. I've never seen any like this before. Very interesting Tern.
Thanks for Sharing these
Michael.

How long are these guys in PR? Wiki says they migrate to Argentina. Yikes! That is a long way to fly twice a year for such a little bird. "I'm so jealous" has got to be the worst feedback, ever, but honestly, Fred, my green-eyed monster gets very grumpy when I see such admirable photos of birds in flight. Yours are no exception. In fact, all of your shots of the Royal Tern on your photostream in Flickr are worth seeing. You even have one dancing. Giving monster a cookie...nice photos. Like them all!

Thanks FoG they are fast but I did get a few of these. There is a smaller subspecies that I have been working on, but so far only one decent shot. The little guys are truly very fast.

Thanks Vin, the white birds are still giving me a difficult time, but I'll eventually get there. Glad you enjoyed these.

Thanks Michael, I am working hard to get more birds in flight. My view is that others can do it I should be able to figure out how to get it correct.

Thanks Lindy, my research tells me that we have a year round population of the Royal Terns although a few do migrate. The dancing photo is a Sandwich Tern and they are very rare here in PR, I was lucky to find one of those. There are several more species of Terns here, slowly working to find them all.

Thanks thaagoon, it is difficult and I have trashed a lot of photos and practiced a lot and these are still not up to where I want them, yes we are our own worst critic.
