Default Bon appetite -- a little wine and fruit

I was playing around in my home studio today. I've been thinking of doing this still life for awhile. I'm happy with the concept but I think I'll revisit it later with a different background. Personally I prefer the last one.

With grapes only
Wine with just grapes

With Book
Wine full frame

With book cropped

Four great shots, I do agree in that I like the last one best and really had to do a double take on it. Beside of me is a bottle of red at about the same depth, a half of glass of wine, two yellow apples, a book and at the moment I am wearing the glasses. You reading my mind? haha Fred

Still life? Did someone say Still Life? Fabulous. My favorite is #1,2,3, and 4.

Composition: A+
Lighting: A+
Combing Textures: A+
Color Balance: A+
Emotional appeal: A+

I see only one anomaly. It's in #1. The negative space where the grapes and the glass touch just to the right of the stem. Do you see it? One solution would be to clone out one or two grapes.

Well done!

Thanks Linda. I see what you are saying. It's obviously an optical illusion because I made sure they were not touching when I set up the shot. I'll keep that in mind in the future. And I probably could clone out a couple of grapes. I'll play around with it.

The thing I'm most disappointed with is the contrast. The white background just didn't work the way I thought it would. I didn't go with black because I thought some things would get lost in it. I may try grey next time or my textured blue background.

I removed the second shot because I wasn't happy with some of the post I'd done on it.

Great shots there...agree that a different color background might be more effective...I was thinking royal purple would work well but it would work better with a fruity white or orangey wine instead of red in that setup....wish I had a place to set up shop and try different things!

I think I like the last one, too. I like the book cropped. plus I think the background is better. Looking forward to seeing your revisit with the different background

Thanks for all the kind comments. One of the things I like about the last one, besides the crop, is the reflection of the book and glasses in the glass of wine. It really stands out to me.
