Default My first night shoot

This is only my second thread. I posted a reflection photo in the critique my shots forum just a few minutes ago.

These are a set of shots I did for my wife for valentines day.

These were all shot with my Sony DSC-H50 P&S. It's the only camera I have.

I welcome all your comments.

The best cityscape I could get in our small town. I'd have closed the aperature a little more if I could do a longer exposure time but my shutter speed is limited to 30 seconds.

The heart was done under a bridge for darker darkness, exp 30 seconds and drawn by myself in front of my camera on a borrowed tripod (I need one of those!) with an LED light.

Sam is my wife's name - this one was tricky to frame and draw, thankfully I had a friend who was able to watch my lcd viewfinder and let me know where I was in frame so that I could draw it out during the exposure.

Another drawing, this time with a laser. Some refraction when the laser hit the sensor directly I think. Does anyone know if a laser can damage the image sensor in a digital point and shoot?

I don't know 100% for sure but lasers can be pretty nasty things. Check out this article on the power of green laser pointers... used by a lot of amature astronomers these days.

Basically, it says that a 5 milliwatt laser (I'm assuming it'd be the same for a red laser, too) is equivalent to a 280,000 watt incandesent bulb!!

You be the judge.

Oh, and great pictures, too!! I tried doing some timelapse photos recently but I was a little too far away to get good ones. Yours looks really nice though. Great shooting!
