Default Mom and chicks

Can't remember the type of bird, but we found some chicks up in the tree...three of them...larger than Mom..three in all.

Look at that red eye on the momma and the brown eyes in the brood...I think my wife also had red eyes during this stage of our newborns hollering for their next meal......nice shots

I think Mom might be bringing up someone else's babies (correct me if I'm wrong the chicks look like cuckoo pheasants and mom doesn't) anyway no wonder she has red eyes.

Can't imagine that was the mother. She just looks so different haha. Mom seems to be unfaithful to her own breed haha. Like the intense look of the 3rd image. THanks for sharing!

Even if they are not related they are still very interesting to say the least. Great find and very nice captures. I have yet to find any babies in a nest.

Perhaps you're all right...didn't really think about it...just that she seemed to be guarding the nest from other birds...funny....we watched them for a long time and no one else showed up.

Well done and very interesting. She might be a surrogate mom
