Default For the Horse Lovers

Yesterday(Fathers Day), I ran across this event that is held every year in a small town(Columbus, Wisconsin) near me. They call it The Carriage Classic. It's a competition & I have no idea how it is scored. It's all about showing off your antique carriages & your skills & abilities as a driver. I like the color photos because they show the texture of the horses better but these shots just seemed to scream for a B&W effect. Wouldn't you agree? Which do you like better?

This next shot was taken with my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8. I kind of like this perspective!

Default Love the sepia tone

These look like a scene from 100 years ago. Very nice!

Thank you! As a matter of fact, that first pic shows a carriage that is actually about 120 yrs. old. She found it in the family farm's half-torn down barn. It belonged to her Great-Great-Grandfather.

I'm conflicted! The horse and buggy beg for black and white, but the colors are beautiful. I also like the perspective with the Tokina lens.

Thumbs up

I like the sepia toned pictures it gives a real nostalgic look, it also suits the time period of the horse and buggies.

Kind regards

i like both colored and sepia versions. but for the 1st photo, sepia is nice, really gives it that old feel. for the 2nd photo, i prefer the color version.

This is what I was thinking also. That first one really stands out with the B&W effect. I'm going through some more of them & it's the same, some look better in B&W, some look better left alone.

I use Nikon Capture NX2 for my post work. I turn it B&W & then add a layer of Sepia which I adjust the opacity of to create a unique effect. That's why some will look a little different than others.

Thank you all for your kind comments.
